Nirmala Mishra breathed her last at her home in Chetla. Nirmala, who received the Balakrishna Das Award, was battling age-related ailments for a long time. According to PTI, the treating doctor told that he suffered a heart attack at around 12.05 am and was taken to a nearby nursing home, where he was declared brought dead.

According to family sources, the body of Nirmala Mishra will be taken to Rabindra Sadan on Sunday morning. His fans can pay his last tribute there. Nirmala Mishra sang many songs for Oriya and Bengali films. He was born in 1938 in Majilpur, South 24 Parganas in subordinate India. Later she moved to Chetla in Kolkata with her family. Nirmala Mishra grew up in a musical environment since childhood. She used to sing well since childhood.
