Selena Gomez Remembers How Her Friendship With Taylor Swift Was Born
The actress revealed that her relationship with the singer began after a painful moment in her life: her breakup with Nick Jonas
Selena Gomez is in one of the best stages of her life, as she revealed during her time on the podcast “Therapuss”. And in addition to her professional success, she said she was more than fortunate on a personal level thanks to the circle of friends and family she has managed to strengthen over the years.
One of the names that came up during her chat with host Jake Shane was singer Taylor Swift, with whom she maintains a solid friendship that began more than a decade ago and whose origin was finally uncovered by the Mexican-American artist.
According to Selena Gomez, her approach to Taylor Swift occurred in 2008, when both were dating brothers Nick and Joe Jonas, respectively: "Everything was nice, we were young. Now we all know each other and love each other, and it's so nice. We didn't know what we did. She and I like to say that the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other," she explained.
So much so that the singer of "A Year Without Rain" was reportedly the first to hear the song "Love Story," which would catapult the Nashville, Tennessee native to worldwide fame: "I was in a hotel room and I remember it; it was one of those songs that I heard instantly and thought it was one of the most beautiful in history," Gomez said.
However, their love stories would come to an end when the actress was 15 years old and the singer-songwriter was 18: "We bonded after the breakup, like girls do," she told the show's host.
Fortunately, the bond they created while living together was so strong that despite the passage of time, they remain closer than ever: "We stayed there through all the ups and downs that came after, and here we are now, 16 years later," said the famous woman.
Proof of this is her recent public appearance on the occasion of Selena Gomez's 33rd birthday celebration, which took place on July 19, with a '70s 'Saturday Night Fever' theme.
In addition to Taylor Swift, the celebration was attended by personalities such as: her couple, Producer Benny Blanco, Sofia Carson, Lily Collins, Nina Dobrev and other close friends of the star of “Only Murders in the Building.”
