Jury chief of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid termed Hindi film 'The Kashmir Files' as 'propagandistic' and 'obscene' film. Addressing the closing ceremony of IFFI 2022, Lapid said the film is "upset and shocked" by the film being screened at the festival. He said, "We are all disturbed and shocked by the film 'The Kashmir Files'. It struck us as a propaganda and vulgar film that was inappropriate for an artistic and competitive section of such a prestigious film festival.”

Anupam Kher hit back
Anupam Kher said that "...if the holocaust is true, then the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits is also true. Seems pre-planned, soon after the toolkit, the gang got activated. God bless everyone.." He further added, No matter how high the height of a lie may be... it is always small in comparison to the truth.. Please tell that now Nadav Lapid has apologized for his statement.

The writer and director of this film is Vivek Agnihotri. Its producers are Zee Studios. The film is based on the community's exodus from Kashmir after the killing of Kashmiri Pandits by Pakistan-backed terrorists. It stars actors Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi in other prominent roles.
