Yeri Mua recently revealed the origin of her name. Recently, the Mexican singer revealed that her name is inspired by the Spice Girls.
In an interview on El Escorpion Dorado, the “Ojitos Chiquititos” singer revealed that her mother named her “Yeri” after a member of the iconic British group.
"My mother tells me it's because of the Spice Girls. That's my real name, not a nickname... He named me Yeri because there was a Spice Girl named Yeri, but with a G, she said, referring to Geri Halliwell. Yeri Mua's version of the origin of her name differs from the one told by her father, who said her name was inspired by a heroic act that occurred in the United States, where a man allegedly rescued a baby named Yeri during a fire. On the show, the singer joked that she feels her father's version of the story might not be entirely true. “I feel like he made that up,†the Mexican singer Yeri Mua's revelation shows how some International pop culture figures, such as the Spice Girls, have even influenced the lives of public figures in Mexico and other countries.
