How Gaspi, the Argentine YouTuber who died in a helicopter accident, became famous
Gaspi went from recording videos on the street to becoming one of Argentina's most popular creators before his tragic death.
The world of content creators is mourning the tragic death of Gaspar Prim Díaz, known to millions of followers as Gaspi. The Argentine YouTuber, 23, died this Sunday in a helicopter accident in Rio de Janeiro.
Gaspi was born in Buenos Aires, in December 2002, and from a very young age he began publishing videos on social networks to increase his visibility and make himself known. However, his true fame began when he started going out and interacting with strangers.
Moving away from conventional interviews, the Argentine's format consisted of unexpected questions, absurd situations and humor based on improvisation, which quickly attracted attention. His characteristic greeting “Good morning” became a personal brand that his followers constantly repeated.
According to The Guardian, Gaspi died in the collision of two helicopters that were in mid-flight. Reports indicate that five other people also died in the accident.

The recognition of the digital industry to Gaspi
Although his videos were already viral, the definitive leap to fame came in 2022, when he was recognized as Youtuber of the Year at the Coscu Army Awards, one of the most important awards in the ecosystem of streamers and content creators in Argentina.
But its digital growth was not without controversy. Some of his videos generated divided reactions due to the type of humor he used and certain platforms even applied restrictions on some of his content. However, these controversies also contributed to increasing its visibility.
At the time of his death, Gaspi had more than 3.5 million followers on Instagram and on YouTube he was very close to 3 million subscribers.
He even had dinner with Ibai Llanos, one of the most famous content creators in the world and founder of “The Evening of the Year”, the amateur boxing event between content creators. In fact, Gaspi fought in that format.
A pause for mental health and an international return
After several years of constant exposure, Gaspi decided to partially distance herself from social networks to focus on her emotional well-being. During that period, she spoke openly about the pressure that internet fame can bring and the need to take care of one's mental health.
Later, in addition to sharing that he had lost more than 20 kilos, he began to participate in larger projects. His presence in “La Velada del Año” allowed him to expand his popularity outside of Argentina.
His spontaneous humor, his occurrences on public roads and his ability to connect with young audiences made him a reference in digital culture in Argentina and Latin America. Despite his passing, Gaspi leaves behind a legacy of paving the way for the internet.
