Apple Martin, daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, will debut as an actress
The 22-year-old will be part of the cast of acclaimed director Nancy Meyers' return to film
Apple Martin, the eldest daughter of Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman and Grammy winner Chris Martin, is ready to follow in her parents' artistic footsteps, but this time as an actress.
As confirmed by Entertainment Weekly, the 22-year-old has landed a coveted spot in the cast of Nancy Meyers' next film, a project that marks the director's long-awaited return to the big screen.
The film, which does not yet have a final title but was previously known as “Paris Paramount,” will feature Martin in an all-star cast that includes “Veep” star Tony Hale and “National Lampoon’s Vacation” legend Beverly D’Angelo. They thus join a cast already headed by names such as Penélope Cruz, Jude Law, Owen Wilson and Kieran Culkin.
The new film will end the longest period between two feature films in the director's career. Previously, Meyers had taken only six years between projects (like the gap between “Something’s Gotta Give” and “The Intern”), but this time it has been eleven years since “The Intern,” starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, hit theaters.
No acting experience
Apple Martin joins Meyers' new project without having direct experience as an actress, although she grew up surrounded by film sets. Her mother, Gwyneth Paltrow, was at the peak of her acting career when Apple was born in 2004, five years after winning the Oscar for “Shakespeare in Love.”
A recent graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in Law, History and Society, Martin is best known so far for her freelance modeling career. This same year she was chosen as the image of the French brand Chloé's summer campaign, and had previously collaborated with Gap and Chanel.
Warner Bros. has already set the release date for this new Nancy Meyers comedy-drama for December 25, 2027, making it one of the most anticipated releases of the upcoming holiday season.
