“Over the last decade, we have realized that fans wanted more” Vin Diesel
More character development
“They wanted us to develop the classic characters, their stories, more in-depth. And the desire has been for us to enter the world of television. I had to wait until the time was right,” he mentioned.
That moment, according to the actor, came with the promotion of Donna Langley to head of content at Universal. “Everything fell into perfectly when Donna started overseeing everything,” explained Diesel.
He mentioned: “I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, and what makes us feel like a family would be protected in the television sphere.”
Although the actor talked about four series, so far only one has been officially confirmed. Behind the project will be heavy producers: Diesel himself, Neal Moritz and Chris Morgan, veterans of the franchise.
Mike Daniels and Wolfe Colman, known for their work in “Shades of Blue”, have been hired as showrunners and scriptwriters for the pilot episode.
At the moment, “Fast 11”, which was initially expected for April 2025, was on pause. It wasn't until January that Diesel announced that the last film in the franchise, titled “Fast Forever”, would arrive in theaters on March 17,2028.
