“Don Ramón” will have his own series
Warner Bros. Discovery announced that the iconic character of “El Chavo del 8” will star in a production that will explore his life beyond the neighborhood
The creative universe of Roberto Gómez Bolaños continues to grow. After the success of the bioseries “Sin wanting wanting”, Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed that Don Ramón, originally played by the legendary Ramón Valdés, will have his own television series.
Jorge Tijerina, director of Fiction Content Development for Warner Bros. Discovery in Mexico and Colombia, was in charge of revealing the news.
According to the executive, the project is in the active development phase and seeks to pay homage to one of the most iconic characters "Don Ramón is someone very loved and we're quite excited about doing it," said Tijerina.
A deep look at the character
Unlike his appearances in the neighborhood of “El Chavo 8”, this new production will delve deeper into the story of Ramón Valdés before and during his stage of fame.
It is expected that the plot addresses little-known aspects of his life, his multiple jobs (from shoemaker to bullfighter) and the building of his relationship with his daughter, “La Chilindrina”.
Although Miguel Islas played Ramón Valdés in the series about Chespirito, it has not yet been officially confirmed if he will repeat the role or if a new actor will be looked for for the different stages of his life.
What is a fact is that the creative team will be the same that led the story of Roberto Gómez Bolaños, guaranteeing aesthetic and narrative continuity in what is already called the “Chespiritoverse”.
The Don Ramón series will be the second big expansive fiction bet of Chespirito's universe after the announcement of the animated series “Los C” smelled”. Although no definitive release date has been set, it is anticipated that the production will arrive on the HBO Max platform soon.
