What does know about the return of “La casa de papel” to Netflix?
Five years after its launch, the platform announces new projects that expand the legacy of "The Resistance" with advances of a possible new spin-off
The iconic red monkey and Dalí's mask are preparing to return to the screen. Netflix shakes the entertainment industry by officially confirming that the “La casa” universe continues to expand.
After five years of having concluded the main plot of the series, the platform revealed that the story of the most famous heists on television is far from over.
The announcement was produced during an exclusive event in Seville, where a boat loaded with people dressed in the band's attire toured the Guadalquivir river to the rhythm of “Bella Ciao”.
Accompanying this deployment, Netflix launched a first trailer that reviews the milestones of the series —from the robbery to the Factory Currency until the assault on the Bank of Spain— and concludes with a forceful phrase: “The universe of La casa de papel continues.”
What does know about the new projects?
Although the streaming giant hasn't explicitly confirmed a sixth season with the original cast, the clues point to new spin-off stories.
Among the rumors that gain more strength stands out “Metalhunter”, a possible spin-off that would be centered on Colonel Luis Tamayo, played by Ferna ndo Caius. According to leaks, the plot would follow the search for the missing gold after the final assault, solving one of the great pending mysteries.
The speculation increased after Fernando Caius himself interacted in a complicit manner with Netflix's publications. In addition, this an uncio arrives at a key moment, since the platform remembered the imminent premiere of the second season of “Berlin” on next 15 May.
With this movement, Netflix is betting on the nostalgia and the power of a franchise that redefined the success of non-English speaking productions at a global level. As the new advance says: “The revolution isn't over.”
