Glamour, drama, and reunions in the first trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2
Almost two decades after the release of the original film, Disney released the first official look at the highly anticipated sequel, which will hit theaters on May 1st
Fashion and film lovers can now "buckle up." The first trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 has finally been released, confirming the return of the original cast led by Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. The trailer reveals a drastically different landscape from that of 2006.
Miranda Priestly (Streep), the legendary editor of Runway magazine, now faces the decline of print publications and the harsh reality of the digital world. However, the real twist comes with the reappearance of her former proteges. The trailer shows that Andy Sachs (Hathaway) has returned to the Runway offices, but no longer as the rookie assistant, but as an influential content editor.
Meanwhile, Emily Charlton (Blunt) has climbed the ranks to become a powerful executive at a luxury group. The central plot will revolve around Miranda's need to secure the advertising budget that Emily now controls, unleashing a clash of titans where loyalty and ambition will once again collide. One of the most talked-about moments in the trailer is the first encounter between the three protagonists, where the sharp humor remains intact.
Emily doesn't miss the opportunity to take a jab at Andy about her fashion sense, questioning whether she "still has those eyebrows," while Nigel (Tucci) provides the necessary dose of elegance and sarcasm that fans have been missing. Directed once again by David Frankel, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled for theatrical release on May 1, 2026. With a script that promises to update the challenges of the industry, the sequel seeks to demonstrate that, although the Times change, but Miranda Priestly's style is timeless.
The sequel introduces new characters with the addition of actors such as Kenneth Branagh, who will play Miranda's husband, as well as Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Pauline Chalamet, among others. Last year, Disney confirmed that it is working on a sequel to the popular 2006 film, based on the novel of the same name by journalist Lauren Weisberger.
