In the midst of the legal process seeking to challenge Julian Figueroa's will, Maribel Guardia spoke after the first hearing held in Morelos, responding directly to the statements of Imelda Garza Tunon, the singer's widow. During the diligence that lasted more than ten hours, Imelda assured that both saw each other in the eyes. However, Maribel denied this version.

“The thing is that I didn't see her. Note that I didn't see her because I sat there in the back and I think she was here up front, so I never had eye contact with her. I didn't see her,” declared the Costa Rican actress.

Tension after Julian Figueroa's death

The relationship between Maribel Guardia and Imelda Garza has been marked by tension since Julian's death in 2023. During the first year, they maintained a conciliatory stance for the well-being of little Jose Julian, Julian's son and Maribel's grandson. However, in 2025, the legal dispute over the inheritance and the care of the minor has deepened the estrangement.

The two met again in the Cuernavaca courts as part of the challenge initiated by Imelda, who questions the validity of the will in which Jose Julian appears as the sole heir and Maribel's husband, Marco Chacon, appears as the executor.

Marco Chacon made his position clear regarding the legacy: “I have no interest in being one. I am waiting, either to be removed by them or for me to resign at the appropriate procedural time, because I have no interest in being the executor.”

Maribel Guardia's reflection on her grandson

Maribel Guardia, who raised Jose Julian during his early years, shared an emotional reflection on her relationship with the child and her commitment:

“As his grandmother, I don't know if "I'm going to see him again. I'm also going to leave him part of my work and my effort. I'm already taking the best of that child with me because I had him from the time he was born until he was eight years old... one day he'll remember me with all the love I gave him," she commented.

Imelda Garza Tunon also speaks out after the hearing

For her part, Imelda Garza Tunon spoke to the media after the hearing and expressed her feelings after meeting with Maribel:

“Yes, yes, yes, after everything that has happened, it is the first time I see her. And it won't be the last, but I hope she is very well and that things go very well for her,” she said calmly.

Although they did not exchange words, Imelda assured that there was eye contact during the hearing.

“No, we didn't speak, but yes, obviously we saw each other. We were there, like, how many hours? Like 10 hours. My feeling, the truth is that it makes me sad, it makes me very sad how her situation ended.” However, she launched a direct criticism towards Maribel: “I don't see any regret in her. So, I say, a person who has no regrets, and who does so much hate and He says he did it out of love, well, there’s no other way.”

Challenging the Will and the Legal Future

Imelda explained that the challenge was recommended by her lawyers, who question the authenticity of Julian’s signature on the will. In the document, the minor Jose Julian is the sole heir and Marco Chacon appears as the executor.

Lawyer Juan Ignacio Lozano Gracia, cited by Imelda, maintains that “that will is not true.” For now, Imelda’s legal strategy is not to contradict the statements made by Maribel and her team, but rather to wait to present evidence that demonstrates the will’s invalidity.
