Shakira invited a group of Ugandan children to dance with her at the World Cup final
The singer extended an invitation to the little ones from the Ghetto Kids Foundation after being fascinated by a video where they dance to her new song, “Dai Dai.”
Shakira is getting ready to star in one of the most memorable shows in the history of the World Cups. The Colombian star surprised by inviting children and adolescents from the Ugandan organization Ghetto Kids Foundation to join her on stage at the 2026 World Cup final, which will be held on July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium).
The initiative arose after the little ones shared a video on social networks dancing with overflowing energy to the rhythm of “Dai Dai”, the new anthem of the tournament performed by the Barranquilla native.
In the recording, the little ones appeared holding the flags of the three host countries: Mexico, Canada and the United States. The publication quickly added thousands of “likes” and unleashed a wave of requests from users to be included in the event.
Moved by the group's talent, Shakira replicated the video on her Instagram stories along with an emotional message: "I'm dying! Why are they so cute? I need dancers like them! Guys, do you want to come dance with me for the final?"
The response from the small artists was immediate. With remarkable enthusiasm, they immediately responded, accepting the proposal: "Yes, we want to perform with you! It would be a dream come true for us, for Uganda and for Africa."
The Ghetto Kids Foundation is an NGO that uses music, dance and theater to support orphaned, low-income and street children. This collaboration promises to be the heart of an unprecedented halftime show, in which Shakira will share credits with great figures such as Madonna and the group BTS, also marking the fourth World Cup appearance in the Colombian's successful career.
