Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce donate $26 million to various organizations before their wedding
All predictions indicate that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will get married this Friday, July 3, in New York
Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce made a record $26 million donation to at least 20 charities across the United States, in what appears to be a celebratory gesture ahead of their highly anticipated wedding this weekend in New York.
According to a statement issued by the couple's representative, the donations have been distributed among a wide range of causes, including nine food banks, an anti-animal cruelty organization, seven educational programs and three children's hospitals.
The statement, which does not directly mention the wedding, simply states: “This week, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift donated $26 million to charities across the United States.”
An impact throughout the country
The list of beneficiaries reflects the places that have been significant in the couple's life. In New York, where she is expected to get married on Friday, there are organizations such as City Harvest and the Food Bank For NYC. Other donations have gone to areas with personal ties, such as the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, near Swift's property in Watch Hill, and Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, the hometown of Kelce's team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Although the individual amount for each organization was not specified, two entities have publicly confirmed the amount received. City Harvest in New York issued a statement thanking them for the “generous donation of one million dollars.”
Jilly Stephens, CEO of City Harvest, stated: “This donation is a show of love for New York and a strong commitment to our efforts to ensure that no New Yorker goes hungry.”
Similarly, the Rhode Island Community Food Bank confirmed receiving $1 million, describing it as an “extraordinary and unexpected” contribution.
This act of philanthropy is not an isolated event for Swift, who has a well-documented history of large-scale giving. During her successful Eras Tour, it was common for local food banks to reveal having received donations from the singer when the tour passed through their city. He has also made contributions to animal rescue organizations, hurricane and tornado relief, and children's hospitals.
About the wedding
Despite the lack of official confirmation from the couple, multiple sources have corroborated plans for a wedding celebration at Madison Square Garden. The ceremony is reportedly expected to take place on Friday, with a rehearsal dinner on Thursday night in a smaller theater inside the venue. It is estimated that around 1,000 guests will attend the main event.
The choice of the date, which coincides with the United States Independence Day weekend, attracts the attention of the media. Preparations for the event have transformed the interior of the iconic covered stadium, with reports indicating the installation of grass, carpets and awnings to create a wedding atmosphere.
