The premiere of Christopher Nolan's long-awaited film, “The Odyssey,” is getting closer and closer, and to celebrate it, a new preview was released that showed Zendaya in her role as “Athena.”
It was through platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok that the clip of just 2 minutes and 24 seconds was disseminated, in which the universe that the filmmaker created for this film adaptation of Homer's poem is clearly represented.
The first scenes of the audiovisual show Matt Damon as “Odysseus” and Zendaya in her role as “Athena” while they have a conversation full of tension in which there is a clash of ideals. Likewise, the preview shared by Universal Pictures places Tom Holland on the screens as “Telemachus”, the son of “Odysseus”.
The latter leads a battle against himself and those around him due to the absence of his father, encountering several obstacles in his path. Perhaps the greatest of all will be Robert Pattinson as “Antínoo”
However, the most talked about moment in the trailer is the confrontation between Odysseus and the cyclops Polyphemus. Although there are still many details to be discovered, Christopher Nolan announced that to carry out this sequence he had to combine animatronics, puppetry techniques and the live performance of Bill Irwin to achieve the desired result.
To close with a flourish, the preview of “The Odyssey” also included just a few seconds of the Trojan Horse scene, which the studio considered one of the most ambitious in the production thanks to the thousands of extras that joined the filming.
In addition to the aforementioned actors, the cast is completed with: Anne Hathaway as “Penelope”, Samantha Morton as “the sorceress Circe” and Lupita Nyong’o in the dual role of “Helen of Troy” and “Clytemnestra”.
Epic battles, moments of tension and the hope of a reunion are the key elements within the trailer that warms up the engines for the launch of “The Odyssey” on July 17 in all theaters in the United States.
