Ted Turner, businessman and philanthropist who founded CNN, dies at 87

The businessman and founder of the CNN chain, Ted Turner, died this Wednesday at 87 years-of-age, as revealed in a press release released by Turner Enterprises. According to the advertisement, the media visionary was surrounded by his relatives until his last moments.
“Ted was a highly committed, fearless, brave and always willing to trust his intuition and his own judgment leader,” Mark Thompson, president and CEO of CNN, said in a statement.
“He was and always will be the soul of CNN. Ted is the giant on whose shoulders we stand, and today we will all take a moment to recognize him and his impact on our lives and the world,” he stressed.
Even though the cause of his death has not been revealed, in early 2025, Ted Turner was hospitalized after presenting with pneumonia, from which he recovered in a rehabilitation center.
