Mireddys González, ex of Daddy Yankee, scores legal victory in the dispute over the singer's fortune
Mireddys González and Daddy Yankee reached an agreement that grants the singer exclusive use of their brands, although they still have to divide their fortune
The legal battle between Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, better known as Daddy Yankee, and Mireddys González has taken a new turn that, while protecting the singer's assets in the future, also respects his ex-wife's right to claim part of the fortune he amassed during their marriage.
According to the Federal Court of Puerto Rico, the former couple signed an agreement that grants the reggaeton artist the use of their brands and guarantees that Mireddys González will not make any future claims regarding their commercial exploitation or profits.
This is how Mireddys González permanently distances herself from the brands she managed during her marriage to Yankee. The brands in question are: Daddy Yankee, DY, Barrio Fino, Legendaddy, Big Boss, Los Cangris and El Cartel.
Within the signing of this agreement, the destination of the royalties from some of the famous compositions was also addressed.
According to what is established, the only ones that are left out of any type of dispute are those that the artist wrote after his divorce with González. However, Mireddys can still assert her right to claim what was created in the marriage.
In addition to this ruling, Mireddys González made a request through her team of lawyers in which she requests provisional compensation and a monthly payment during the time the conflict is resolved.
Another of the guidelines set by the judge is related to the division of Daddy Yankee's fortune as he was married to the plaintiff through joint property for 29 years. This amount would be around $500 million, Mireddys' defense detailed.
