Vicente Fernández Jr. defends Ángela Aguilar after criticism for including her on a tribute album to his father
The singer broke his silence in the face of the wave of criticism received for including Ángela Aguilar and other artists in the tribute album to Don Vicente Fernández
The record album in tribute to the late singer Vicente Fernández has sparked a heated debate on social networks as a result of the selection of artists that make it up. And the executive producer of the project, Vicente Fernández Jr., chose not to include his nephews Alex and Camila, and give way to the voices of celebrities such as Ángela Aguilar.
In the face of this controversy, the eldest son of 'Charro de Huetitan' took on the task of responding to the criticism forcefully and without the intention of continuing to fuel speculation about a possible estrangement.
During his visit as a special guest on the program “La Mesa Caliente”, Vicente Fernández Jr. explained that the artist selection process for the album “Tributo al Rey con banda VOL 1” was focused on his artistic career.
Regarding the absence of the grandchildren of the deceased performer, the famous declared: "It is very important to define that the places are through the musical career and musical history that each one has earned. It would look very bad on my part to have an album with Alejandro Fernández, Alex, Camila, América, Emiliano, Valentina, Ramón, there is me, then it could be taken as nepotism or abuse of power."
In this sense, he announced that there are already plans to expand the project in tribute to 'Don Chente' with a volume 2 in which the participation of Alejandro and Camila Fernández has already been confirmed.
"Yes, they are invited in the next project, even they have already chosen the songs they are going to perform (...) They have the invitation because of the acceptance that each of them has had with the public, that is why they were taken into account, not because they are children of or grandchildren of," he continued.
This was not the only clarification that Mariana González's husband made during his time on the entertainment program. He also took advantage of the space to respond to those who regretted his decision to collaborate with Ángela Aguilar on the aforementioned tribute album.
Vicente Fernández Jr. commented that far from any controversy, Pepe Aguilar's daughter has a solid career and plenty of talent to back her up.
"Ángela Aguilar participated because of her musical career, her career in the albums they have produced, in the songs that have managed to capture an audience. In personal matters, no one is anyone to be able to define, judge or say yes or no," he stated.
