Neighbors say that the arrested accused Manoj Sen was very reserved and did not talk to anyone in the neighborhood. Somesh Srivastava, who lives in Manoj's neighborhood in J-Wing of Geeta Akashdeep Cooperative Society, told openly about the incident. He says that despite the continuous stench, Manoj was not opening the door of the house even after knocking. The sounds of cutter were continuously coming from inside the flat.

Manoj and Saraswati were living together on the seventh floor of the society for the last three years. Manoj's flat was stinking since Monday itself. During a conversation with NDTV, Manoj's neighbor Somesh Srivastava said, “I knocked on the door of his house when it smelled bad, but no one opened it. I heard the sound of some spray after which Manoj Sen came out. He told me that he was going out for some work and immediately left. After this the management of the building was informed about it. Then the police was informed about the incident.

Somesh said, “The police entered the flat by breaking the door. Police found cutters inside. One of which was an electric cutter. Three baskets were found in the kitchen in which it is alleged that Manoj used to put body parts. DCP Jayant Bajbale told news agency ANI in this matter, “We have found a dead body of a woman which was cut into pieces in a society located in Mira Road area. This couple was living in a live-in-relationship. Further investigation is on.

Another neighbor told the news agency, “He used to live only in himself and did not mix much with other people. I didn't even know his name. From Monday morning to Tuesday evening, there was a smell of dying rats. We did not know that this stench was coming from a flat. We had only seen such things on TV."
