Julián Quiñones chose Mexico to grow in football
Fabio Marín, representative of Julián Quiñones, revealed the reasons why the forward chose El Tri over Colombia
The Mexican team ended its participation in the group stage with an undefeated streak. El Tri won the three games in Group A. One of the most important pieces was Julián Quiñones, the Colombian soccer player who decided to represent Mexico to continue growing.
Fabio Marín, representative of Julian Quiñones, explained the reasons why the former América player chose to wear the El Tri shirt. Quiñones saw an opportunity to grow in the Mexican team and did not waste it.
"It was a very thoughtful decision, very much discussed with his surroundings. Julián always felt that Mexico was the place where his career could grow and where he would find football stability," said the representative in an interview with Claro Sports.
However, Fabio Marín himself explained that Quiñones' decision was not only based on football arguments. The Al Qadsiah FC striker has a special appreciation for the Aztec country as it is the place where he laid down roots and established his family.
"It's not just football, it's the life he lived in Mexico, his family, his time in important clubs. That brought him closer and closer to making that decision," he added.
Much has been said about Julián Quiñones waiting until the last moment to receive the call from Colombia. But the South Americans would not have shown much interest and Quiñones forgot this possibility. However, Marín discarded this theory.
"When he decides to play for Mexico, he does it with total conviction. It was not a decision of convenience, it was a decision of football identity at that moment in his career. The important thing was that he felt comfortable, that he had a serious project and that he could compete at the highest level. Mexico offered him that," said the representative.
