Bihar Enforces New Rules for Updating Mobile Numbers Linked to Vehicle Registration and Driving Licenses
Bihar enforces new rules for updating mobile numbers linked with vehicle registration and driving licenses. Failure to comply may lead to fines and suspension of licenses.
In a significant move to enhance vehicle registration and driver management, the Bihar government has introduced new regulations requiring vehicle owners and drivers to update their mobile numbers linked to their vehicle registration and driving licenses. This measure aims to streamline records and ensure compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act.
New Regulations and Enforcement
Under the new rules, vehicle owners and drivers who fail to update their mobile numbers will face penalties and other administrative actions. The updated guidelines, issued by Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, mandate that if the mobile number linked to a vehicle registration or driving license is not updated within the stipulated period, penalties will be imposed. Moreover, there could be actions such as the suspension of the vehicle’s registration and the driver’s license.
On Saturday, Agarwal directed all District Transport Officers (DTOs) to enforce these new regulations rigorously. This directive aims to ensure that all vehicle and driver records are current and accurate, reflecting any changes in contact information.
Mandatory Mobile Number Update
The Transport Secretary has urged the public to update their mobile numbers linked with vehicle registrations and driving licenses within the next month. This update is critical as the data on the vehicle and driver portals will not be considered valid if the mobile number is not current. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in legal and administrative consequences.
To update their mobile numbers, individuals must provide a mobile number linked to their Aadhaar card. The updating process can be completed through the Transport Service Portal, which facilitates the modification of contact details. Without an updated mobile number, vehicle owners will also face difficulties in obtaining or renewing their Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates.
Help Desk and Assistance
For assistance or queries regarding the update process, individuals can contact the transport department’s help desk. A dedicated helpline number has been issued for this purpose: 06122547212. The helpline will be available during office hours to provide guidance and support for those facing difficulties with the update process or having any related concerns.
This new regulation aims to enhance the efficiency of vehicle management and ensure that all records are up-to-date. By enforcing these rules, the Bihar government seeks to improve the overall administrative process and ensure that vehicle-related information is accurate and readily accessible. Vehicle owners and drivers are advised to comply promptly to avoid any inconvenience and potential penalties.
