Crackdown on Gender Testing Racket: Sonipat PNDT Team Exposes Gang Operating in Meerut
The Sonipat PNDT team unveils a gender testing gang in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, as part of efforts to combat declining sex ratios.
The crackdown on gender testing rackets intensifies in Haryana as the PNDT department steps up efforts to combat the alarming decline in the sex ratio. The Sonipat PNDT team recently uncovered a nefarious gang engaged in illegal gender testing operations in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, shedding light on the clandestine practices employed by such groups.
Acting on confidential tips, the Sonipat PNDT team meticulously planned a sting operation to apprehend the culprits. A pregnant woman was covertly dispatched to Shaukeen, who then rendezvoused with Shakti Singh, a pharmacist, in Baghpat. Together, they transported the expectant mother to Meerut, where they were met by Shahnawaz and Aslam. Ultrasound procedures were surreptitiously conducted in a vehicle at a location known as Johnny.
Upon receiving a signal from the pregnant woman, the PNDT team swiftly moved in to apprehend Shaukeen, Shahnawaz, and Shakti Singh. However, Aslam managed to evade capture and flee the scene. Authorities were promptly notified, and both the Meerut Police and the Uttar Pradesh Health Department launched investigations. The three apprehended suspects were handed over to the local police station, with interrogations currently underway.
Sumit Kaushik, a PNDT officer, highlighted the persistent desire for male offspring in Haryana, fueling the demand for illicit gender testing services. Despite previous crackdowns and numerous raids conducted in Uttar Pradesh, such illicit operations persist, prompting calls for continued vigilance and stringent enforcement measures to combat this illicit trade.
