An encounter took place between terrorists and security forces late on Monday evening during a search operation in the forest area of Kalakote in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. After receiving information about suspicious activity, the Army along with the police had cordoned off Broh and Soom forest area in Kalakot area early on Monday.
It is reported that two to three terrorists have been surrounded in Kalakot area of Rajouri. At the same time, the soldiers have intensified the operation against the terrorists. The search for terrorists hiding in the forest has been intensified. There was firing from the terrorists last night. Army, Jammu Kashmir SOG team is also present on the spot. According to the latest update, 3 army personnel including 2 para commandos have been injured in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Broh Soom village of Kalakote sub-division of Rajouri district.
Officials said the search operation turned into an encounter late in the evening when terrorists hiding in the area started firing on the forces in an attempt to break the cordon. The security forces retaliated and the exchange of fire between the two sides continued. There were no immediate reports of any casualties, officials said. He said additional forces have been sent to the area to close all possible escape routes.
Earlier in the day, gunshots were heard during the cordon and search operation, but later it became clear that the security forces opened fire to check the presence of suspected terrorists.
