Efraín Juárez would not have allowed the imposition of the son of the late Miguel Calero
The versions of the resignation of Efraín Juárez de Pumas continue to circulate and among one of them, and perhaps the most decisive, was the imposition of an auxiliary
It is clear that Efraín Juárez is a coach who will die with his own until the last consequences and precisely with that personality that distanced him from Atlético Nacional of Colombia, also made him resign from the UNAM Pumas by preventing them from imposing an assistant on his coaching staff.
Barely 24 hours after his surprising resignation from the technical direction of the Pedregal cats, the versions about his resignation continue to multiply and now it is claimed that one of them and perhaps the most decisive was that he did not accept that Miguel Calero's son be included.
Regarding these versions, La Opinión consulted with people close to Juárez about the coach's position and they simply mentioned that the feline coach hopes to finish the contractual issue with the Pumas and then will clarify all the versions regarding his surprising departure.
The possible arrival of José Juan Calero (son of the legendary goalkeeper Miguel Calero) to Pumas UNAM was one of the issues that generated the greatest tension within the Auriazul board and coaching staff, as Antonio Sancho would have pressured the then technical director Efraín Juárez to accept the incorporation of the Colombian-Mexican forward almost obligatorily.
This supposed directive caused annoyance within the team, since the main request from the coaching staff was to give more opportunities and minutes to the basic forces players, such as the young goalkeeper Pablo Lara.
This decision was put on the table by Antonio Sancho, supposedly with whom the feline coach had telephone contact, because the resignation was not in a meeting with the board, but rather everything was handled by telephone and where Juárez heard the way to structure the squad for the next tournament and did not agree with Sancho.
They told him that they were going to place a person on the coaching staff so that he could serve as support, taking into account that this person has a very high academic preparation with the new tools of the coaches, but they assure that Juárez was strongly opposed and decided to step aside.
The other versions
The other versions of Efraín Juárez's departure are that he has not even submitted his resignation, much less that the call to resign has been made over the phone, especially because he has not had any communication with Antonio Sancho, much less.
On May 29, a meeting took place between the president of the team, Raúl González and Efraín Juárez, where the feline coach hoped to be given news of a renewal of his contract that ends in six months.
But the board did not handle anything and on the contrary, he was told that the sports vice president Antonio Sancho did not agree with his permanence in the team, but that there was nothing regarding an exit or a resignation, nor about names of reinforcements.
Juárez lost the final on May 24 and then this meeting was held, to later go on vacation and not have information about any offer to renew, which is why no call has been generated to say that he resigned, simply that Efraín Juárez will look for an accommodation in a European team and his project in Pumas will have no future.
Legal issues and offer in Belgium
Efraín Juárez would not have wanted to continue at Pumas because he supposedly has an offer in Belgium with the Royal Antwerp Football Club team and that the coach has seriously considered not letting this offer pass by with all the advantages that his family environment is closely linked to this country.
The feline coach knows that it will be very difficult for Pumas to open the checkbook to bring reinforcements to win the title, because after losing the final, the most logical step in the future is to win the Apertura 2026 tournament, but the felines know that their budget is limited to maintain even players like Jordan Carrillo, whose market value tripled and is worth much more than six months ago.
