The Crurazole team will have a historic participation in the World Cup. Tahith Chong stands out for being the only player in the squad who was born in Curacao
The Curacao team will be in the 2026 World Cup. The Concacaf team will attend a World Cup for the first time in its history. Curiously, the people of Curacao have one fact that stands out among those called up: only Tahith Chong was born in Curacao.
Of the 26 players called up by coach Dick Advocaat, also born in another country, only Tahith Chong can boast of having been born in Curaçao territory.
It is worth mentioning that this small island is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This has allowed the Caribbean nation to strengthen a good political and social relationship. In this sense, the Netherlands is the main option for citizens in terms of immigration.
Tahith Chong was born in Willemstad, capital of Curaçao. However, Chong himself left the island at a very young age. Tahith Chong went to the Netherlands and it was in the European country where he began to develop his career as a footballer.
The attacking midfielder, aged 16, signed with Manchester United to continue his football development. Chong built his career to defend the colors of Werder Bremen, Bruges, Birmingham, Luton and now at Sheffield United.
It is worth mentioning that Tahith Chong carried out the entire youth selection process with the Netherlands. Chong played from the U-15 category until finishing at the U-21 level. Since September 2025 he has represented Curacao and his name will remain in the history of the island and world football.
