IIT Madras second year student commits suicide, fourth in three months

One More IIT-M Student Dies By Suicide: The cases of suicide of students in higher educational institutions are not stopping. On Friday, April 21, another case of suicide of a student has come to light from IIT Madras. This is the fourth case of student suicide from IIT Madras this year i.e. in the last three-four months and the 12th since 2018.
The student was a resident of Madhya Pradesh
A second-year BTech student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, allegedly committed suicide on the campus, police said on Friday. The student was a resident of Madhya Pradesh. As per information, the deceased student has been identified as 20-year-old Kedar Suresh, who was a resident of Kaveri Hostel. A Chennai police official said the body has been taken for post-mortem and a preliminary investigation is being conducted at the IIT Madras campus. Further details about the incident are awaited.
PhD student's body was found on April 2
Earlier, on April 2, 2023, Sachin Kumar, a PhD student at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, was found dead in his room in Velachery, Tamil Nadu. The police had told the media that the student was a resident of West Bengal and was 32 years old. It was told that the student had committed suicide on 31 March.
