Ed Deputy Director Chintan Raghuvanshi: A shocking case of corruption has come to light. The Deputy Director of ED i.e. Enforcement Directorate has been caught taking bribe. The name of this Deputy Director of ED is Chintan Raghuvanshi. CBI has arrested Chintan Raghuvanshi red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 20 lakh. He was demanding bribe from a businessman in exchange for settling a money laundering (PMLA) case.
According to sources, the accused ED Deputy Director Chintan Raghuvanshi had demanded a total bribe of Rs 5 crore from the businessman. Later the deal was settled for Rs 2 crore. He was caught taking Rs 20 lakh out of Rs 50 lakh as the first installment on Friday.
This incident is from Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, where a team of ED had gone for a search operation. During this time, this case of bribery came to light. Chintan Raghuvanshi is an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and was trapped and caught by the CBI after receiving a complaint against him.
According to CBI officials, Deputy Director Raghuvanshi had lured the victim businessman to give him relief in the money laundering case. In return, a huge bribe was demanded. As soon as the businessman gave the first installment, the CBI laid a trap and caught him. The CBI has arrested Raghuvanshi and now his interrogation is going on. This case has raised questions on the credibility of an important institution like the ED, which investigates economic crimes and money laundering cases across the country.
