Voting will be held on Saturday i.e. today for the election of the new Vice President of the country. The contest is between National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar and opposition's joint candidate Margaret Alva. In terms of statistics, Dhankhar's victory is certain. According to sources, Dhankhar is expected to get close to 515 votes due to the support of NDA and several regional parties. At the same time, considering the support of the parties that Alva has got so far, it is estimated that she can get close to 200 votes.

Differences have also come to the fore in the opposition parties regarding the Vice Presidential election, as Trinamool Congress will stay away from the voting process. 80-year-old Alva has served as the Governor of Rajasthan. Dhankhar, 71, has also been the Governor of West Bengal. Voting will be held in Parliament House from 10 am to 5 pm. Counting of votes will take place immediately after this. The name of the new Vice President will be announced by late evening. The new Vice President will take oath on August 11. It is noteworthy that all the members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are included in the electoral college of this election. Nominated members are also eligible to vote. The current strength of the Parliament is 788, out of which only BJP has 394 MPs.

Here the ruling party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has cleared its stand regarding voting in the Vice Presidential elections. JMM is with UPA in the Vice Presidential election. Party supremo Shibu Soren has made it clear that the Vice Presidential elections will be held in 2022 along with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha UPA. A letter has been issued by JMM in this regard. In this letter, JMM President Shibu Soren has been quoted as saying that his party will vote in favor of opposition candidate Margaret Alva in the Vice Presidential election.
