Jamadar Balinder Rai, along with Kamlesh Kumar, the then police station president of Nagarnausa, have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the local court of conduct in the murder case of Ganesh Ravidas, president of JDU Dalit cell of Nagarnausa block in Nalanda district.

Along with the punishment of imprisonment, the court has also given life imprisonment under the SC-ST Act. A fine of 25000-25000 was also imposed on the accused in both the sections. Along with this, the court has said that in case of non-payment of the fine amount, one will have to suffer an additional imprisonment of 3 months.

On Thursday, while pronouncing the sentence, Pratibha, the ADJ cum SC-ST Special Judge of the Local Behavioral Court, has ordered to pay 15-15 thousand rupees from the amount of fine to the son of the deceased. Special Public Prosecutor Rana Ranjit Singh, while hearing on the point of punishment, had demanded the execution of both the accused, considering the case as a very heinous murder.

Rana Ranjit Singh said that the court sentenced the accused to life imprisonment on the basis of the statement of the prosecution government witness, medical report and circumstantial evidence in the case. In this, the family members and other personal witnesses, including the pointer, turned away from the incident in the court.

In this case, the court had released seven other accused. At the same time, the action against him was stopped due to the death of another policeman Tej Narayan Rai during the trial. After the sentencing, both the accused have declared themselves innocent.
