Recognizing the Spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat
Singh’s message aligned deeply with the broader vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India). “Our technological community is not just building machines; they are building the future of India,” he stated, emphasizing the need for continued investment in research, development, and indigenous innovation.
The Defence Minister highlighted several milestones where Indian scientists and engineers have made world-class advancements from the development of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, to cutting-edge missile systems, to critical innovations in space and digital infrastructure. “We are becoming increasingly self-reliant in defence manufacturing, thanks to the ingenuity and dedication of our technical minds,” he added.
India’s Youth: Fueling Tomorrow’s Innovations
In a nod to India’s younger generation of tech enthusiasts, Rajnath Singh urged students and aspiring innovators to dream big and contribute to national development through technological excellence. “Our youth must understand that innovation isn’t just about invention it’s about solving real problems in ways that uplift our society and protect our sovereignty,” he said.
Several initiatives, including the Innovation for Defence Excellence (iDEX) and the Technology Development Fund (TDF), were cited as platforms that are empowering startups, researchers and academic institutions to turn ideas into impactful solutions. These programs reflect a focused national strategy to encourage collaboration between the private sector and government research bodies.
Remembering Pokhran: A Turning Point in India’s Tech Trajectory
“That day was not merely about nuclear capability. It was a symbol of our self-confidence as a scientific community and as a nation,” said Singh. “Our ability to deliver such an operation with precision, secrecy, and success was a testament to the brilliance of our scientists and engineers.”
Building India’s Future Through Strategic Technology
Singh emphasized that modern warfare, national security, and economic prosperity are increasingly driven by technology. From cyber capabilities to artificial intelligence, quantum computing to autonomous systems, India’s push to become a global technology leader is both an economic imperative and a strategic necessity.
“Technology is the new battlefield. It defines how nations will compete, collaborate, and defend themselves in the 21st century,” Singh remarked. He urged all institutions academic, private, and public to work cohesively in creating a vibrant tech ecosystem that can meet future challenges and opportunities.
