In Bihar's Sitamarhi district, there is resentment among farmers for fertilizers. A shopkeeper located at Jabdi Mod of Parihar police station area was caught red handed by the villagers while doing black marketing of fertilizers. Seeing that the expected action was not being taken in the matter, the villagers blocked the Parihar-Bela road at Jabdi turn with bamboo bats and created ruckus for hours. Later, Block Agriculture Officer Rajdev Ram, who reached the information, sealed the shop on the instructions of the District Agriculture Officer. At the same time, assured to register an FIR against the shopkeeper Sunil Kumar Singh and recommend cancellation of the license. After which the angry villagers relented and the jam could end after two hours.

The Block Agriculture Officer (BAO) told that 100 bags of fertilizers had arrived with the accused shopkeeper, which had been sent somewhere by the shopkeeper. Later, due to uproar, the shopkeeper has called back 57 bags of manure. 43 bags of manure are still missing. It has been told that on Friday night manure of four shopkeepers including Sunil had arrived on a truck. Sunil loaded his 100 bags of manure on another vehicle and sent it somewhere for black marketing. As soon as it was heard, the villagers gathered there and started creating ruckus. The villagers surrounded the truck standing in front of the shop. On information BDO Sanjeev Kumar and Puani Om Kumar reached the spot. The BDO investigated the matter.
Fierce uproar at Pax Bhawan
The BDO also seized the register of the shopkeeper. After the assurance of action by the BDO, the villagers left the truck, which was carrying 500 bags of manure belonging to three other shopkeepers. Seeing no action, the villagers again got agitated and blocked the road. Hundreds of farmers from different villages of the block, who are facing shortage of urea fertilizer for wheat cultivation in Sursand, created a ruckus on Saturday at the Pax building located in Sahaniyapatti village. Farmers who reached there to collect fertilizers told that it is mandatory to give urea fertilizer after threshing in wheat fields. Not giving fertilizer on time has an adverse effect on the yield. Neither DAP nor urea is available to the farmers.
Fertilizer sellers accused of discrimination
As a result, farmers are forced to buy fertilizers at a higher price than black, despite the availability of fertilizers from the vendors of the block area. Farmers alleged that black marketing of fertilizers is done with the connivance of block level departmental personnel. Farmers are forced to buy urea fertilizer from Blackiere for six hundred to eight hundred per bag. Accusing the fertilizer sellers of discrimination, he told about giving fertilizer only to his favorite and familiar farmers. Some farmers, who were standing in line hungry and thirsty since morning at the window of Pax Bhavan, were successful in getting fertilizer while fighting. While most of the farmers had to return disappointed without taking fertilizers.
