India's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, has described Mahatma Gandhi as a champion of non-violent resistance. Actually, a peace discussion program was organized in New York, America, where Ruchira Kamboj presented India's side. During this he said that peace has always been the cornerstone of India's rich cultural and philosophical heritage.

In the program, Kamboj said that in its vast history, India has always adopted the ideals of non-violence, harmony and co-existence. Teachings of great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, the statue of the champion of non-violent resistance graces the beautiful North Lawn of the UN Headquarters. During this, Kamboj also emphasized on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statements on peace. PM Modi believes that there should be no war in today's era. Kamboj emphasized that India always plays an important role in peacekeeping and peacebuilding. India is a symbol of peace rooted in non-violence. India is proud of more than six thousand security personnel deployed in 10 peacekeeping missions. Kamboj expressed grief that 177 brave Indian soldiers have made the supreme sacrifice. India ranks first among all the countries in contributing troops and police to UN peacekeeping operations.

Earlier in July, at an event organized by the UNGA on peacebuilding and sustainable peace, Kamboj had said that India's US$40 billion development projects with the Global South reflect India's unwavering commitment to the welfare of mankind. India is committed to being a steadfast partner and catalyst in all peace-building efforts.
