In Bihar, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-3, approval has been given to build rural roads of about 170 km length in Katihar, Araria, Purnia and Kishanganj districts. An amount of Rs 200 crore has been approved for this. The process of selection of agency will start first for the construction of all these roads. The construction of these roads is expected to start from November. Also, their construction is expected to be completed by 2024.

According to the information received from the sources, there is a plan to increase the width of the roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase-3. In this phase, the width of selected roads will be increased in 35 districts of the state first. At present, the width of the roads which is 3.75 meters will be increased to five meters. Its objective is to improve transport facilities and increase the significant contribution of the agricultural sector in economic development.

In the rural areas of the state, better roads are needed for cultivation and the ready grain to reach the market or market. In such a situation, due to the increase in the width of rural roads and their maintenance, the people of rural areas will get better transport facilities. And at the same time, farmers will also be able to easily take their crops to the market.

In the third phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Bihar, the target of widening them including the construction of roads in the length of 6162.50 km has been set by 2025. Out of these, DPR has been prepared for the construction of about 280 roads in 35 districts with a length of about 2172 km at a cost of about Rs 1603 crore. The construction process of these roads is likely to start from November.
