The repair work of bridges in West Bengal is being done on a war footing. Due to the repair work, vehicular traffic on the Santragachi Bridge is going to be closed from the night of 19 November. The movement of vehicles through this bridge will be completely closed for about one and a half months. It is being told that there will be a ban on the movement of vehicles from the night of 19 November to 31 December from 11 pm to 6 am. Small vehicles will run from 6 am to 11 pm. It has not been officially announced yet.

A meeting will be held at the State Secretariat 'Nabanna' regarding the closure of the Santragachi Bridge. Railway officials will also be involved in this. Only after this the date of closure of the bridge will be announced. Be aware that Santragachi Bridge is very important from the point of view of traffic. Goods trains opening from Kolkata and Howrah go through this bridge to other states. The route of vehicles will be diverted during the closure of traffic in the bridge at night. This task is going to be very challenging for the police as well.

According to the information, trains coming from Kolkata will go via Second Hooghly Bridge via Alampur, Dhulagarh. At the same time, some vehicles will be removed from Bali's Nivedita Setu. Officials of Kolkata and Howrah Traffic Department believe that the closure of this bridge will lead to a jam situation. For this, it has been decided to deploy additional traffic police. On an average 70 thousand vehicles pass through the Santragachi Bridge every day. In such a situation, if this bridge is closed, there will be a lot of problems. However, from the point of view of safety, the work of repairing the bridge is considered very important.
