At the same time, the ban on barium nitrate by the Supreme Court has caused huge losses to the manufacturers. The makers said that earlier there used to be a business of cracker up to 6000 crores. But in many states, the decision to impose ban has reduced by about 40 percent.

The firecracker makers of Sivakasi told the media that the decisions of the state governments were justified. But green crackers cost a lot. He said, the chemicals used in making green crackers are not easily available in India. The chemical has to be imported from abroad, due to which the cost of green firecrackers is high.

Sivakasi-based firecracker makers told news agency ANI that the production has come down drastically after the Supreme Court banned the use of the chemical barium nitrate. Because barium nitrate is a major substance for making firecrackers, which gives long shelf life to firecrackers. At the same time, Abiruban, owner of Ayyan Fireworks, told ANI, "The Supreme Court in its order has banned the manufacture of string crackers. String crackers are usually one of the most sold firecrackers in Sivakasi. He told that in Sivakasi around Rs.
