The Union Cabinet met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed that today it has been decided to open 157 new government nursing colleges in the country. Where there is a medical college, a nursing college will be set up with the help of Rs 10 crore. He told that the demand for medical devices has increased in the country. The National Medical Device Policy 2023 has been prepared to promote this sector.
The cabinet has approved the setting up of 157 new nursing colleges along with the existing medical colleges at a cost of Rs 1570 crore. In addition, the National Medical Device Policy is expected to help the medical device sector grow from the current $11 billion to $50 billion in the next five years.
