In the city of Baba Bhole, the booming Ganga has started towards the red mark. If the water level continues to rise, then soon the danger mark will be crossed. The water level was just 76 cm below the danger mark of 71.26 meters at 8 pm on Thursday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Divisional Commissioner and inquired about the latest situation. After completely submerging the ghats, the Ganga is now restless to enter the urban population. Due to the ever-increasing Ganga, the reverse flow of Varuna has become frightening now. The low-lying areas and colonies adjacent to the Ganges have been submerged by the flood waters. There is panic among the people due to the reverse flow of varuna due to Ganga.

According to the Central Water Commission, the water level of Ganga was recorded at 70.50 meters at 8 pm. The effect of floods has started showing on the roads adjacent to Ganga Ghat. Water has started entering the urban population through roads and streets. The water level of Ganga has been fluctuating continuously since a month. The last rites of dead bodies are being performed somewhere in the street and somewhere on the terrace. The floods in the Ganges are affecting the lives of common people along with the coastal areas.

On Thursday evening, the water of the Ganges reached the road, drowning the stairs at Dashashwamedh Ghat. Water is already stored on the road at Assi Ghat. According to the forecast of the Central Water Commission, there will be no decrease in the water level at present, because water is being released continuously from the dam and barrage above. According to the forecast of the water level by the commission on Friday, the water level of the Ganges is expected to reach 71.20 meters at eight in the morning. 

The area from Samanghat to Ramna has been engulfed in flood waters. The water flowing from the Gyan Prava Nala at Samneghat has submerged more than dozens of houses in Maruti Nagar, Gayatri Nagar, Kashippuram Extension. Water has entered up to a foot in some houses located at low altitudes. Families surrounded by water were busy preparing for a speedy escape. Water had climbed on the steps of the Mrityunjay temple located in Samneghat.

When the water entered the Nagwan Nala, about three feet of water had hit the road leading from the banks of the drain near Rameshwar Math. If the speed of the water remains the same, then the population of Ghasiyari Tola, Saket Nagar, ahead of Dumraobagh, the banks of the Rohit Nagar drain will also be engulfed by floods. Due to the rise in the water level of the Ganges, more than 40 bighas of crops have been submerged on the banks of the Ganges in Ramna. 

While the speed of elongation in the Ganges has increased, the people living on the banks of the Ghats have increased, while the attitude of Varuna has increased from Thursday towards densely populated areas. The increased water level of Varuna has reached from Cantonment to Lagayat Konia. Nakkhighat, Pulkohna, Tinpulia, Sakkar Talab, Puranapur, Deendayalpur, Hukulganj, Baghwanala, Shailputri, Amarpur Madhiya and Saraiya areas are most prone to floods. 

Thousands of people are stranded in areas across Varuna due to the sudden rise in flood waters. Some people somehow got out of the flood waters and went to a safe place. People living in Nakhighat Nai Basti said that earlier in the event of floods, boats and motor boards were arranged by the district administration to evacuate people. This time the boat has not been arranged so far. 

Divisional Commissioner Deepak Agrawal and District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma inspected the flood posts in Saraiya and Dhelwaria areas of Guruvar. The Divisional Commissioner inquired about the refugees. Took information about family members and got information about getting food and also distributed food in front of them. The District Magistrate directed to lay rugs in the rooms and to get regular cleaning done by the sweepers. Banners were asked to be put up on relief camps.

The DM said that flood posts are being operated and the work of shifting people is going on continuously. Employees, civil defense and health workers are on duty 24 hours a day. Timely cooked food is being provided in the flood camp. 

Step-by-step rising Ganga has also increased the miseries of the common man. Some have missed school and some have lost their jobs. The flood relief camps have got a place to hide their heads, but the pain of leaving their homes is clearly visible on every face. As many as 280 families are sheltered in 11 flood relief camps in the city. 

The colonies adjoining Samanghat have also been stirred up due to floods. After the water entered the houses, people started collecting their homes. Kunwar Singh, Lalan Yadav, Moon Yadav, Ashok Tiwari, Pyare Lal Gupta, residents of Maruti Nagar, told that the family has been sent to the village after water entered the Samneghat drain. 

In view of the rising water level of the Ganges, cruise operations have been banned till August 30. Vikas Malviya, Director, Alaknanda Cruise Line said that on Thursday, it was decided to stop cruise operations in view of the rise in the water level of the Ganges. Eight lakh tickets have been refunded from August 19 to 25.
