It has been almost six days since the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, but the process of getting the dead bodies out from under the debris is still going on here. Meanwhile, the death of an Indian national who went missing after the massive earthquake in Turkey and Syria has been confirmed. Indian Embassy, Ankara has given information about this by tweeting. The embassy tweeted that the mortal remains of Vijay Kumar, an Indian national missing in Turkey since the February 6 earthquake, have been found. His body has been identified among the rubble of a hotel in Malatya.

After the earthquake, the Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, Sanjay Verma, had informed the press conference about the situation in Turkey and the stranded Indians there. He told that this is the biggest natural disaster in Turkey since 1939. Ten Indians are stranded in earthquake-hit areas of Turkey, though they are safe. Along with this, he also informed about the missing of a civilian. 

Turkey and Syria The earthquake havoc has killed more than 25 thousand people so far. A large number of people are still trapped under the debris. Some of them are alive while some have lost the battle with death. Meanwhile, America's space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has also started cooperating in the relief work. NASA has given information about this on its website. According to this, NASA scientists are continuously sharing satellite images and data of earthquake affected areas of Turkey and Syria with the respective governments. This is helping in the relief work. NASA has also prepared a proxy map with some before and after pictures of the earthquake.

India has launched 'Operation Dost' to help earthquake-affected people in Turkey. Through this, India has increased the help to the people of Turkey. Teams of Army, Air Force personnel, NDRF and doctors have been sent to Turkey. Relief material has also been sent on a large scale. A large amount of relief and medical material has been sent from India through Air Force aircraft. Prime Minister Modi has said that he is committed to help beleaguered Syria and Turkey. 

99 member team comprising Ortho, General Surgeon, Best Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon, Community Medicine Specialist, Logistic Officers and three Medical Officers, 13 Dr. Turkiye is providing medical aid and relief to the earthquake affected people at Hatay. Second-in-Command Lt Col Adarsh informed that the 60 Para Field Hospital is a part of the Para-Brigade of the Indian Army. Soon after reaching here, we set up our hospital in a school building. We have a laboratory and X-ray facility. We started treatment immediately.

“We also had people who were pulled out of the debris after 3 days. We rectified them and are providing all kinds of help. We performed a three-and-a-half-hour-long difficult surgery at 3.30 a.m. the day before, the patient is stable and has been sent to tertiary care in Adana today. Lt Col Adarsh told, 350 patients came to us yesterday and 200 patients came from this morning.  Turkish Citizens Express Gratitude Turkish Citizen Furkan says, “I am really grateful to them because they are the first group that came here… It was the first time I met a group of people from India and I can't express my feelings. More than 25 thousand people have lost their lives in the devastating earthquake. On Monday, February 6, powerful earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.6 were felt on the border of Syria and Turkey. Its epicenter was about 18 kilometers below, due to which the buildings standing on the ground were severely damaged. In this region, the Arabian Plate is moving north and is rubbing against the Anatolian Plate.
