In Kashipur, Uttarakhand, the local people attacked the UP Police who went to catch a crook. Five people are reported to have been injured in the clash between the police and the villagers, while one woman has died. Angry over the death of the woman, the villagers blocked the highway. At present, the police of both the states have spoken of investigation in the matter.
One woman killed in firing
According to the information received, the Moradabad team of UP Police had come to raid the senior block chief in a case. During this, there was a dispute between the police and the family members over some issue. The dispute escalated so much that firing started. It is alleged that Gurpreet Kaur, wife of BJP's eldest block chief Gurtaj Bhullar, died due to firing by the UP Police.
Heavy police force deployed in the area
In this regard, SSP Manjunath TC said that in view of the deteriorating situation, police forces of other districts have been deployed in the area. He told that there has been firing from both the sides, in which the woman has died and the soldiers of UP Police have also been injured. The UP Police claims that the villagers took the policemen hostage and snatched their weapons and opened fire. At present, the police of both the states are investigating in this matter.
