Jammu. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday awarded a commendation certificate to Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari of the Border Security Force (BSF) for her exceptional courage and operational efficiency during Operation Sindoor on the Jammu border. Commanding a border post very close to a Pakistani post on the International Border, the Assistant Commandant led her troops to silence three forward enemy posts across the Zero Line (the area closest to enemy territory) by giving a befitting reply.
BSF Jammu said on X that 'On 30 May 2025, COAS General Upendra Dwivedi, PVSM, AVSM awarded a commendation certificate to Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari of BSF Jammu for her exceptional courage and operational efficiency during Operation Sindoor.' She bravely took charge of the BSF company deployed on the front line in challenging conditions.
Apart from Neha, six women constables manned the guns at the forward border post, and their 'josh' kept increasing with every bullet fired at enemy positions across the international border in Samba, RS Pura and Akhnoor sectors. Neha, a third generation officer of her family in Uttarakhand, is proud to be a part of the BSF and to have commanded the border post in Pargalwal forward area of ??Akhnoor sector in Jammu district during Operation Sindoor.

She told PTI on Wednesday that 'I am proud to have commanded a post on the international border with my soldiers. It is about 150 meters away from the Pakistani post in Akhnoor-Pargal area. Neha's grandfather served in the Indian Army and her parents are from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), making her the third generation officer in the family. "My grandfather served in the Army. My father was in the CRPF. My mother is in the CRPF. I am a third generation officer in the force," she said.
