6-year-old autistic boy who disappeared after leaving an apartment in Georgia found dead

The authorities of Clayton County, Georgia, confirmed this Monday the discovery of a six-year-old boy who had been missing since Sunday.
The minor was identified as Ramon “RJ” Jett, who had been the subject of an extensive search operation after disappearing in Riverdale.
According to police, the boy was found early Monday morning in a pond near his last known location, in the area of the 8000 block of Webb Road.
Authorities indicated that the family has already been notified.
Minor had been missing for almost a day
According to the Clayton County Police Department, RJ had last been seen between 11:30 a.m. and noon on Sunday.
At the time he was wearing a light green t-shirt, camouflage shorts and white socks.
Police previously noted that the boy was non-verbal and had a condition that increased the urgency of the search operation.
Officers, K-9 units, drone teams, diving personnel, detectives and patrols participated for several hours.
The authorities had also requested support from residents to check yards, sheds, wooded areas and other spaces where the minor could have taken refuge.
Investigation continues to determine the circumstances
Police reported that the investigation remains active and that detectives are working to clarify the circumstances related to the minor's death.
No additional details have been released so far.
In a public statement, the department thanked the collaboration of law enforcement agencies, emergency teams, volunteers and community members who participated in the search.
He also asked for respect for the family's privacy during the grieving process.
Authorities indicated that they will release additional information as the investigation progresses.
