Bomb signing in the MLS: Chicago Fire makes the incorporation of Robert Lewandowski official
The former Barcelona forward was announced by Chicago Fire as their new Franchise Player and will be one of the great attractions of the MLS
Robert Lewandowski already has a new team. The Chicago Fire made official this Monday the incorporation of the Polish forward, who will continue his career in the MLS after finishing his time with Barcelona.
The 37-year-old attacker signed a contract for the next two seasons, so he will remain with the American franchise until the 2027-2028 campaign, where he will occupy a Franchise Player position, a figure that allows clubs to exceed the salary limit established by the league.
Robert Lewandowski begins a new challenge in the MLS
After four seasons with Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski decided to embark on a new adventure in soccer in the United States, where he will seek to maintain the scoring level that made him one of the most outstanding forwards of his generation.
Throughout his career, the Polish international also defended the shirts of Lech Poznań, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, clubs with which he won multiple national and international titles.
His arrival at the Chicago Fire is still subject to obtaining the corresponding visa and the International Transfer Certificate, necessary requirements to be qualified and debut in the MLS.
Chicago Fire celebrates the addition of the Polish forward
The Chicago Fire board highlighted the impact that the arrival of Robert Lewandowski will have, both on and off the field.
"His arrival reinforces our ambition to compete for trophies and raises the club's standards to heights worthy of this city. We are eager to work with him and for Chicago to see firsthand why he is one of the most revered sporting icons in the world," said Gregg Berhalter, the team's director of soccer and coach.
With this signing, the Illinois team strengthens a project that seeks to consolidate itself among the protagonists of the Eastern Conference.
Lewandowski arrives with an impressive scoring quota
The new reinforcement of the Chicago Fire lands in the MLS with a record backed by more than 700 goals between clubs and national team, in addition to a career in the elite of European soccer.
His time at Barcelona closed a four-season period in which he won titles and maintained outstanding offensive production, before becoming a free agent at the end of the previous campaign.
The MLS continues to add international figures
The hiring of Robert Lewandowski confirms the MLS's commitment to incorporating international-class footballers to raise the level of competition and increase its global projection.
The Pole joins the list of notable additions of the summer market, in which Antoine Griezmann also arrived at Orlando City, reinforcing the growth of a league that continues to attract European football leaders.
With his signing for Chicago Fire, Robert Lewandowski also emerges as one of the new rivals of Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, one of the confrontations that will generate the most expectations during the next MLS season.
