With one week until the primary, state leaders asked eligible voters to mail their ballots no later than Tuesday, May 26, to ensure they are counted in the June 2 process.
The petition is due to a recent change in the way the United States Postal Service (USPS) processes mail.
Packages dropped off at post offices and USPS mailboxes located within 50 miles (80 kilometers) of a regional center are now picked up the next day.
