Trump approves comment that Marco Rubio will be the next president of Cuba: 'Sounds good to me!'
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, son of Cuban immigrants, has promoted Trump's actions against Venezuela and Cuba
“Sounds good to me!” Trump commented on his Truth Social account, sharing a post by user @Cliff_Smith_1 predicting that “Marco Rubio will be president of Cuba.”
Moments later, Trump warned Cuba that it will no longer receive money or oil from Venezuela, noting that the island has been “living for years” off Venezuelan money and crude in exchange for “security services” for the “last two dictators,” referring to Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro.
“NO MORE OIL OR MONEY GOING TO CUBA-ZERO! I strongly suggest you make a deal, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE,” the president wrote on the same social media platform, without clarifying what agreement he was referring to.
The White House leader has suggested he could focus on Cuba following the US military intervention on March 3 In January in Venezuela, he captured Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and transferred them to New York, where they face charges related to drug trafficking and terrorism. Trump has indicated that among those now “in charge” of the South American country is Rubio, whom the press has dubbed the “viceroy of Venezuela,” adding to his positions as Secretary of State, National Security Advisor, and former head of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Rubio, the son of Cuban immigrants, has been one of the main proponents in the Administration of US actions against Venezuela and Cuba. Operation “Absolute Resolution,” as the US maneuver to depose Maduro from the presidency of Venezuela was dubbed, resulted in the deaths of at least 56 military personnel, 32 of them Cuban, according to the Cuban government.
