Volodymyr Zelensky says Trump offered him security guarantees for 15 years
The Ukrainian president stated that without security guarantees the war with Russia cannot be considered over
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that US President Donald Trump had offered him security guarantees for 15 years and that he would like them to cover a longer period.
“I have discussed this issue with President Trump. I told him that we are in “We’ve been at war for almost 15 years. That’s why I would like the security guarantees to have a longer validity,” Zelensky said in a digital meeting with journalists. “I told him we should consider the possibility of guarantees for 30, 40, or 50 years. That would be a historic decision by President Trump,” he added. Zelensky believes the war with Russia began in 2014, with the illegal annexation of Crimea, and not in 2022, the year the large-scale invasion began. The Ukrainian president also emphasized that without security guarantees, the war cannot be declared over. “We all want the war to end, and then martial law will end. But martial law can only end when we have security guarantees,” he stated. “The moment we have security guarantees, it will be a sign to all of us that the war is over,” he added. EFE
