The three-time champion is dismantled: Diego Valdes would leave America
The Chilean footballer would have offers from Brazil and the United States. America would not have Diego Valdes
Diego Valdés has been one of the regular players during André Jardine's process. The Chilean footballer has stood out in the azulcrema squad to the point of becoming a decisive player in the last titles obtained by the institution. But they waived the Chilean in the 2025 Clausura and the club is reportedly looking for his exit.
Last season, Diego Valdés only played 16 games. But in many of those games he came on as a substitute and that allowed him to accumulate 449 minutes on the field (the equivalent of 5 full games).
In this sense, the Chilean's poor performance and his age (31 years old) have reportedly motivated the Azulcrema board to dispense with his services. In addition to trying to renew the squad, the Águilas del América would free up a foreign spot with which they could acquire a renowned signing.
Diego Valdés' suitors
According to information from Récord, the main clubs from Brazil and the United States are interested in Diego Valdés. The report explains that the Chilean footballer has already received a formal offer from the Amazonian soccer team, although he would not be adverse to his arrival in Major League Soccer.
"We were able to learn that his future is between the United States and Brazil, with a greater probability of playing in Brazilian soccer. With information from César Luis Merlo, Fortaleza has already presented a formal offer for the Chilean midfielder, where they would offer him a 3-year contract (...) Another option for Valdés is to go to the MLS, since there has been interest in signing him for months and he would be happy to come to the United States," the portal explained.
Diego Valdés' contract with Club América ends in December 2026. The Chilean midfielder is reportedly valued at just over $4 million dollars. However, due to the Chilean's decline in performance and his desire to leave the team, the Azulcrema team would considerably lower the South American's value.
"In America they are looking to receive between $2 and $3 million for the Chilean, understanding that his value has dropped considerably in recent years and that is why they will lower their economic demands,so that we can get rid of it as soon as possible," the media added.
