Before the tournament started, several media outlets reported on the Tuzos' interest in the transfer market. It was rumored that the club would have James Rodríguez and Neymar Jr. In a conversation on the Flow Podcast, "Ney" revealed that there were clubs interested in taking him to the Club World Cup. But the Brazilian preferred to improve his physical condition.
"I was talking to some teams about playing in the Club World Cup. The Fluminense move was very close to being finalized, but I decided to stay to train a little more," said Neymar Jr. on the podcast.
Before concluding his speech, Neymar Jr. clarified that he is in very good physical condition. However, the former FC Barcelona player has had many problems in this area, which has led him to be absent from the field for several months. "I'm 100% physically, but I need to get even better to be able to return in good shape," he concluded.
Neymar Jr.'s Inconsistency
The 33-year-old midfielder has gradually returned to the field in recent months. However, in 8 months, Neymar Jr. has only been able to play 14 matches (755 minutes on the field). The Santos star scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists during this period.
Despite Neymar Jr.'s inconsistency in recent years, the former FC Barcelona player maintains a transfer market value of approximately $13 million. Neymar's contract with Santos expires on June 30, 2025, according to Transferrmarkt.
