Rayados de Monterrey Play their Life in the Club World Cup against Urawa Red Diamonds
The Mexican club still has a chance to make it into the world’s top 16, but will have to play a perfect match against the Japanese.
The Rayados de Monterrey, captained by Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, will face the Japanese Urawa Red Diamonds this Wednesday, confident of winning and qualifying for the round of 16 of the Club World Cup.

With a goal from Ramos, the Rayados, led by Spanish coach Domenec Torrent, tied 1-1 in their debut against UEFA Champions League finalists Inter Milan, and then drew goalless with Argentine side River Plate.
These results keep the Mexican team third in Group E, with two points and a mathematical chance of reaching the round of 16.
The Mexican team will aim to maintain order at the back and, after that, look for goals with an attack that will have its pillars in Argentine German Berterame, Colombian Nelson Deossa and Argentine Lucas Ocampos.
“Urawak will be a tough opponent, but if we don't win, we don't deserve to qualify for the round of 16,” said Torrent, who will look for his players to maintain the good defense they didn't show in the Mexican Clausura tournament and to be forceful in the opponent's penalty area.
We know we have to attack, we have no choice. I think we have many options, we don't have to think about anything other than winning, he said.
Although they have lost both of their matches and are eliminated, Urawa made a good impression in their previous outing, in which they forced Inter to come from behind to win 2-1 with a 92nd-minute goal from Argentine Valentín Carboni.
They are an organized, fast team that comes into the match with high spirits, after having an advantage over Inter until the 78th minute.
Led by Ryoma Watanabe and Takuro Kaneko, Polish coach Maciej Skorza's team will be looking for a victory over the Mexicans to close out the tournament in the best possible way.
We are playing against one of the best teams in the world. We are out now, but we will fight to get our first victory on the final day, Skorza assured.
In the other group match, Inter and River Plate will play to the death in search of three points to finish in first place.
Sergio Canales is in doubt
The Rayados coach announced the health of Spaniard Sergio Canales, who left the match against River Plate last Saturday due to some discomfort due to a “small elongation” that has not prevented him from continuing to train with the rest of the team.
He improves more every day. Today he was able to train, he was with the team throughout the entire training session. We'll see how it evolves, if we take risks, how he is and what the doctors say, Domenec said on Tuesday.
