FC Barcelona ensures Jules Kounde until 2030
The French defender extends his relationship with the club and consolidates his position as a key player in Hansi Flick project
FC Barcelona announced this Friday the renewal of Jules Kounde, who will continue to wear the Barca shirt until June 30, 2030. The French defender, 26 years, had a contract until 2027, but both parties decided to extend it for three more seasons, thus consolidating his role as one of the team's defensive pillars.
Kounde arrived at Bara in the summer of 2022 from Sevilla and quickly gained the trust of the coaching staff.
The official signing ceremony will be attended by Joan Laporta, president of the institution, as announced by the club in a statement.
Fast negotiations and total commitment
The renewal does not It took the fans by surprise. Kounde himself had announced it during the team's tour of Asia at the end of July. "The club and I had the same idea of staying. I'm very happy, I feel comfortable with the team, and I'm very grateful to be at a club where every year we fight for every title. I had no intention of leaving," he stated at the time. He also emphasized that the negotiations were "quick" and uncomplicated. Under the management of German Hansi Flick, Kounde played 53 games last season, establishing himself as an undisputed starter. Although he has primarily played at right back, the Frenchman insists that his training and preference lie in the center-back position. "I'm always at the manager's disposal; he knows I can play in both positions. But I'll always feel more like a center-back, because I trained as one," he explained. Since his arrival, he has amassed a significant trophy cabinet with Barcelona: two Spanish Super Cups (2023 and 2025), a Copa del Rey (2025), and two La Liga titles (2023 and 2025). Now, with a contract until 2030, Kounde faces the challenge of continuing to grow and taking "another step forward" in this new era.
