The criticism per the duel between Barcelona and Villarreal in Miami continues
Ron Gourlay believes that the LaLiga duel in the United States is against the clubs fans, but benefits the teams pockets
The general director of football of Valencia, Ron Gourlay, expressed that the possible celebration of the Villarreal-Barcelona match in Miami is a tricky issue and commented that "no one would want to see a Valencia-Bara match in Miami, but in football there is a lot of commercial pressure."
"On one hand there are the commercial advantages and on the other there are the fans. There are commercial advantages because this type of income can be invested in the club," he said in his first press conference this Wednesday in which he explained the club's objectives.
"We would have to find a balance between the commercial side and the fans. I want them to be happy but expanding the brand increases a club's income, he added.
The Scottish Valencia director stressed how Chelsea will benefit from winning the Club World Cup, which has a prize money of around $150 million.
This week, the board of directors of the Spanish Federation, at the request of La Liga, asked UEFA and FIFA to authorize the match between Villarreal and Barcelona, scheduled for December 20 at La Ceramic in Miami.
The president of Villarreal has expressed his satisfaction because he believes it will expand the brand of the club and La Liga and has offered free plane tickets to season ticket holders who want to go or a 20% discount on the season ticket, but Real Madrid has asked that it not be authorized and has pointed out that it represents an advantage for Barcelona because they would play one less game as a visitor.
