The Spain national team player went to console Messi after losing the World Cup final. The Argentine left him some advice
Lamine Yamal did not have the best World Cup, but Spain's collective performance helped them win their first World Cup. Yamal, like a good icon of FC Barcelona, went to console Lionel Messi after the Albiceleste defeat. Messi offered the Spanish forward some advice.
The 19-year-old footballer is one of the greatest jewels in current football. However, the young Spanish forward had his idols and, probably, Messi was one of them. Lamine Yamal recognized that Messi is the best footballer in history.
"He is the best in history and someone I have always admired. When the game finished I went to show him my respect," said the FC Barcelona forward.
Lionel Messi's advice to Lamine Yamal
The hug between Lamine Yamal and Lionel Messi was immortalized through the official broadcast. In the midst of the sadness of having lost the World Cup, Messi assumed his leadership and maturity and advised Yamal to continue creating his path.
“He told me to follow my path and that the future belongs to our generation (…) Those words mean as much to me as the gold medal I wear around my neck,” Yamal revealed.
Lionel Messi, at 39 years old, left very good records in the 2026 World Cup. In the 8 games that the Albiceleste team played, Messi contributed 8 goals and 4 assists. With these records “La Pulga” reached 21 goals and 12 assists in the history of the World Cup.
